Two brothers. One vision.
MIO was founded in 2001 by the Salm brothers (Isaac, the numbers guy and Jaime, the design guy) with the objective of merging business rigor with environmentally and socially progressive design. Our mission is to design everyday solutions for creative, sustainable and meaningful work and living places. Our vision is a world where sustainability is synonymous with good design. Following this path, Jaime and Isaac are forging a new design language, reimaging industry and what it means to furnish places.
Responsible Desire
MIO is committed to our guiding principle of Responsible Desire; The belief that customers should crave sustainable products out of genuine desire rather than fear, guilt or altruism. This natural demand will ultimately drive the cultural shift necessary to align consumer wants with the behaviors needed to rebalance our planet.

Who.
MIO is a sustainable furnishings design company and a strategic design consultancy. We bridge the gap between business and sustainability through category defining design. We are creatives dedicated to reimagining the sustainable future.

What.
We design socially and environmentally responsive strategies, products, services and experiences that promote responsible consumption patterns and redefine sustainable culture.

Where.
MIO is located in Philadelphia, the city of Brotherly Love, Benjamin Franklin, obscenely delicious food and as we see it, the home of incredibly talented, down to earth and hard working innovators. We work with companies large and small in a variety of industries, spread across the globe. The only thing they have in common is a commitment to people and planet or a desire to do well by doing good.

Why.
We want to make the world a better place through innovative sustainable design and strategy. We want to change consumer behaviors through design. We make a difference by measuring our success holistically.
